Testimonials
Huy Hoang, PharmD | Coordinator for Experiential Advancement | Assistant Professor | Pacific University
Dr. Kimberly Truong is simply incredible to work with and a natural at what she does. She served as our keynote speaker at our first virtual CE Seminar Series at Pacific University School of Pharmacy, in which she presented remotely to our pharmacy preceptors here in the Northwest on a session titled, “Naming and Responding to Racism in Support of Black, Indigenous, & People of Color (BIPOC) Students” that was very well-received. She provided extensive background literature and videos, and also rich supplemental resources for our pharmacy preceptors. I know I walked away from the session feeling more confident in handling racial interactions and microaggressions if/when they occur. On behalf of our School of Pharmacy, we were very pleased to have her share her wisdom and knowledge with us, and would highly recommend her to your team, business, or institution.
Mai Du | Co-Founder and Board Member | Greater Malden Asian American Community Coalition
Dr. Kimberly Truong is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in the important work of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She has been one of the few experts in this field with whom I continue to consult with for many important JEDI matters for various situations. She is also an expert in Critical Race Theory and I have heard many accolades regarding her teaching in this area from her former students. It was fantastic to have had Dr. Truong served as one of our key speakers for both the 150th Anniversary Transcontinental Railroad Celebration at the Massachusetts State House sponsored by the Asian Community Development Corporation (ACDC) and the Massachusetts Asian American Commission in June 2019 and the Malden Town Hall: Fighting Anti-Asian Racism and COVID in May 2020.
John Silvanus Wilson, Jr., Ed.D. | Senior Advisor and Strategist | Office of the President | Harvard University | 11th President of Morehouse College
When we worked together at Harvard University, I thought Dr. Truong was a solid performer and a great contributor to our institutional quest to realize a brand new vision. For the first time in almost 400 years, our University made a firm commitment in 2018 to become the world’s recognized leader in “sustainable inclusive excellence” by fostering a campus culture where everyone can thrive. Dr. Truong contributed mightily during her time here, and it is encouraging to see her launch a much broader, entrepreneurial effort to share with others her wisdom about institutional transformation!
Alvin Tran, Sc.D., M.P.H. | Director of We Embody Lab | Assistant Professor | School of Health Sciences | University of New Haven
Dr. Truong is a leading expert in Critical Race Theory and an influential community leader. Her team successfully provided a compelling workshop on race relations, microaggressions, and anti-racism to my undergraduate and graduate students as part of a year-long fellowship program. Dr. Truong is also able to lead and facilitate difficult conversations related to diversity and inclusion in a variety of settings, including college campuses and work environments. She will challenge you and your team to step out of your comfort zone, pushing everyone to think critically and competently to identify their own implicit biases and to find potential solutions to address persisting issues of discrimination in their surrounding environments.
Beth Miller, Ph.D. | Chief Knowledge Officer | EL Education
I am thrilled to hear that Dr. Truong is available for consulting. Dr. Truong exemplifies the combination of deep commitment, expert knowledge, and brilliant problem-solving that consistently drives the highest quality results. When she worked for me at the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, Dr. Truong worked on ground-breaking studies of K-12 summer learning loss, conducted a literature review on school governance and education reform, and collaborated on the evaluation of a major philanthropic initiative to create greater equity in higher education through systems change.
In each case, Dr. Truong’s research skills and methodological expertise resulted in many improvements to the project and its outcomes. Equally importantly, her research skills were matched with insights into the ways in which equity–diversity, inclusion, identity, access, racial caste, and power–was operating, often in unrecognized yet powerful ways, to structure systems and create barriers to educational justice. I look forward to continuing to work with Dr. Truong in the months ahead.
Janeka Melanson | Director of Online Learning/Conference Coordinator | Asperger / Autism Network
Dr. Truong helped our small non-profit organization examine both our personal and organizational implicit biases and how these biases created barriers to diversity, equity and inclusion both in the population we serve, as well as in our staff. Her impact is still evident as our organization moves forward with creating a strategic plan to cultivate inclusive hiring practices, so that our staff diversity mirrors the diversity of the autistic community we serve. Because of her work with us, we now have a committee dedicated to accomplishing this goal, as well as some much needed focus and direction. Dr. Truong’s expertise is evident in the way she so skillfully creates a safe space for folks to discuss difficult issues, such as race and equity.
